The Colorado Governor's Cup competition is a celebration of Colorado wines! Each year, wineries from across the state submit their wines to be judged by a panel of sommeliers, restaurateurs, and industry professionals. In previous years, this competition was only open to Colorado wineries but in 2025, the Governor's Cup accepted wines from across the county. The judges awarded each wine a Gold, Silver, Bronze, or No Medal. They then re-evaluated all of the Gold medal wines (from Colorado only) and selected twelve wines to receive Double Gold medals. These wines formed the Governor's Cup Collection and were showcased at Colorado Uncorked.

Colorado Uncorked is held every year at the History Colorado Center and is the only opportunity for the public to sample all of the wines in the Governor's Cup Collection at the same event, paired with small bites from local restaurants. The 2025 winners included five white wines and seven red wines from nine different wineries across the state. The highlight of the evening is the announcement of the winner of the best white wine, best red wine, and best in show.

The 2025 Governor's Collection included several wine grape varietals that are not commonly known. Rkatsiteli is a white wine grape originally from the country of Georgia, and Continental Divide Winery's Rkatsiteli was crisp, acidic, and slightly sweet. Aromella is a cold-hardy white grape developed by Cornell University, and was a winning wine from Fox Fire Farms. Zweigelt is a red grape that originated in Austria, and there were two Zweigelt wines in the Governor's Collection from Blanchard Family Wines and Sauvage Spectrum Winery.
These lesser known varietals provided to be show stoppers! The winner of the best white wine was Fox Fire Farms's Aromella and the winner of the best red wine was Sauvage Spectrum Winery's Zweigelt.

The 2025 winner of best in show was Sauvage Spectrum Winery! We congratulate all of the amazing hard-working people in Colorado's wine industry. This year's Governor's Cup was a celebration of resiliency and community. We're already looking forward to this event next year! Cheers!
