About Us

Grand Valley Grapes and Grains Adventures is a passion project born out of Sarah and Jason's love for Colorado's local libations!

About Sarah

I’ll never forget the first time I tried wine from Colorado. I came to Grand Junction for a work trip, and my coworker took me to Bin707 for dinner. I took one sip of a Cabernet Franc from Plum Creek Cellars and said “What is this, and where can I get more?”.

When we decided to move to Grand Junction, I told Jason that I would be happy to move to the Western Slope but if we were moving to Colorado’s wine country, I wanted to get a job in the wine industry. The first summer we were here I worked in the tasting room at Colterris at the Overlook. I got to learn so much about wine and winemaking from the High family and the winemakers. I absolutely loved talking with people about wine, and got to meet so many people who came to the tasting room to enjoy the wine and the beautiful scenery.

It brings me great joy to get to connect with others through wine via our tour business. I have met amazing people from Colorado and all over the world. I love to find out about other people’s experiences and I get really excited if a guest has never tried wine from Colorado before. Getting to witness a guest’s face when they try a sip of something amazing or unexpected at one of the wineries is the best! When I drive guests to wineries along Palisade's Fruit and Wine Byway and see the vineyards, orchards, and surrounding landscape, I enjoy it just as much as they do because the land is always changing with the seasons, and it’s always beautiful. My hope for each and every guest is that we start the day as strangers, connect through our mutual appreciation of wine, and end the day as friends.

About Jason

From my first sip of Anchor Steam (I may or may not have been 21…), I’ve been a fan of craft beer. Fast forward to the summer of 2017 when I attended a Business of Beer conference in Denver, Colorado. It was at that conference that I fell in love with the craft beer community. Hearing the brewers talk about their passion and dedication to the craft, their collaboration, and their unwavering commitment to their labor of love made me want to learn more and get involved in any way I could.

Lucky enough for me, that same summer I started leading beer tours in the River North District of Denver. While the tours certainly helped ingrain me in the beer community, it also helped shed light on another passion of mine: hospitality and showing people a good time. Every day, I was able to put a smile on people’s faces, educating them on the amazing Colorado beer scene and introducing them to some of our state’s finest breweries.

When we moved to Grand Junction in late 2018, we knew we wanted to get involved in the beverage community on the Western Slope. With only 5 breweries in the Grand Valley, the beer scene was small, but incredibly passionate, and there were already signs of growth. It made sense to start Grand Valley Grapes and Grains Adventures and get ahead of the curve (there were no brewery tour companies in Grand Junction at the time).

Today, there are a dozen breweries in Mesa County and I am thrilled to introduce locals and tourists alike to the growing beer community here. At the same time, I get to continue my primary mission of promoting the Western Slope beer scene and the partners we work with. Cheers!

About Grand Valley
Grapes and Grains Adventures

Grand Valley Grapes and Grains Adventures was founded on our love of wine and beer, and our passion to promote the exceptional local wineries and breweries in the Grand Valley.

Sarah and Jason met the old-fashioned way - in a bar. We fell in love based on our mutual love of the outdoors, goofy movies, and craft beer and wine. After many years of living in Colorado's front range, we decided to move to Grand Junction to be closer to family and to escape the hectic life of the big city.

As we were contemplating moving to the Grand Valley, we started developing an idea for a winery tour / brewery tour business to share our passion for local wine and beer with others. We look forward to helping you experience the Grand Valley wine and beer community!
